Animal welfare project in Bali

What's the matter?

The project is carried out by a non-profit organization located directly in Bali, in Tabanan. It is financed exclusively through donations and the team is always happy to receive active support from volunteers! The company has set itself the goal of caring for as many wild animals as possible, rehabilitating them and then releasing them again.

The main objective of the wildlife sanctuary is to care for the animals that have been taken in and to release them back into the wild. So by supporting this project with your volunteer work, you can contribute to the rehabilitation of the animals!

Your tasks as a volunteer

The following tasks await you in the wildlife project:

  • Cleaning the cages
  • food preparation
  • Preparation of activities for the animals
  • Medical treatments (if you already have medical knowledge)
  • Monitoring the behavior of the animals, especially the new arrivals and those due to be released soon

You usually work six hours a day at the wildlife sanctuary in Bali. Your working day is broken down as follows:

8:00 - 9:00 am: Prepare the food and feed the wild animals
9:00 - 11:00: cleaning of the cages
11:00 - 12:00 Preparation of activities for the animals

14:00 p.m. - 15:00 p.m.: Preparation of the feed for the afternoon
15:00pm - 16:00pm: Making toys etc. for the animals and tending the grounds

All activities are supported by the animal keepers and animal owners, so that you always have a contact person.

As a volunteer, you are also welcome to take a few days off to explore the island. The team is very flexible in coordinating your days off.

Location

Tabanan in Bali

Tabanan, Bali

The Tabanan project site is located in the south of Bali. The place itself is rather small, but here you can admire the beautiful landscapes with the typical rice terraces. If you want something more action, you can drive further to the southern tip of the island: The largest city of Bali, Denpansar, as well as the popular places Canggu, Kuta or Ubud are about 1 - 1,5 hours away by car.

The coast is also a short drive away. Here you have the choice between numerous beaches where you can relax, surf or enjoy the sunset. The numerous temple complexes are definitely worth a visit. The Hindu water temples Pura Ulun Danu Bratan or Pura Tanah Lot are particularly impressive and are not far from the project site.

Bali is widely recognized as one of the most popular destinations for travelers from all over the world. This is where digital nomads, yoga tourists and package holidaymakers meet. In addition to the countless beautiful beaches, there is much more to discover on the island.

It doesn't matter whether you like to be in nature or in cities, are a surfer or do yoga, are interested in culture, cuisine or nightlife - Bali offers something for everyone!

Free time in Bali

Free time in Bali

Explore the diverse island

You will certainly not get bored in Bali, because the island has a lot to offer. After work you can explore the area with the other volunteers. Especially the night markets in Bali are very popular. Here you will find a wealth of local specialties to try, such as Nasi Guling or Nasi Campur. The nearest night market is about 20-30 minutes walk from the property.

On your days off you can go on trips to the surrounding towns. The nearest city is Denpasar and about 1,5 hours away by car. In the largest city on the island, you can learn more about Indonesia's history and culture in museums and temples. Or you can enjoy the sunrise on Sanur Beach.

Furthermore, many popular areas and attractions are nearby, such as the Jatiluwih rice field or the Besikalung Forest. The Batukaru Temple complex, which is a World Heritage Site, is also not far. Would you rather explore Bali's beaches? Of course, the island has a lot of them! You have the choice: Tanah Lot Beach, Yeh Gangga Beach, Canggu Beach or a tour along the coast! You may also come across one or the other event at the temples or in the villages.

If you have a driver's license, it's a good idea to rent a scooter for smaller trips or a car for larger trips to be as flexible as possible. The on-site team will be happy to help you organize your leisure activities and give you tips.

Which visa do I need for Indonesia?

German nationals can apply for a tourist visa upon arrival, for a fee of around €30 (IDR 500.000). In addition to a passport, you need a return or onward flight ticket to another country. The visa is valid for a stay of up to 30 days and can be extended by a further 30 days on site.

For longer stays you can use the B211A visa visa-indonesia.com apply for. This costs €270 on the website. You will receive the letter of invitation for the visa and other information from us.
