Who can take part in volunteer work?

In many cases, participation in the RGV programs abroad is already possible from 16 years possible. Many of our participating volunteers have either just started with the Abitur successfully completed or already in progress in studies.

More and more people with life and work experience are coming to our programs, for example as part of a Sabbatical take time abroad from your job.

What requirements should I meet to volunteer in Asia?

Your opportunities in Asia are very diverse. The various aid projects each present their own challenges. If you already have certain skills and knowledge, that is of course an enrichment for the project - but not a must.

In every project description you will find a requirements profile, which gives you an initial indication of what you should ideally bring with you. Working with people and animals, for example, requires a certain level of sensitivity. But the most important thing is that you are open to the local conditions and that you participate in your chosen program with fun and initiative. We would be happy to advise you on which projects are particularly suitable for you.

How long and with which visa can I volunteer in Asia?

We attach great importance to ensuring that your stay has great added value both for you and for the respective project. In order to really feel like you are part of a community and to really arrive, it takes a certain amount of time to get used to it.

Your commitment therefore lasts at least two weeks and can last up to twelve months, depending on the project. Here, too, we will look together at what period of time you can imagine and help you to apply for the right visa. You can start flexibly and extend your stay on site.

Can I travel with a friend?

If you would like to share this exciting time with someone, you are welcome to do so. It is important that you book your desired project separately. When you register, you can then tell us who your travel buddy is, how many people you are and where you want to go. We will then be happy to accommodate you together in the same projects and accommodations.

What accommodations are available and is there WiFi on site?

We offer various accommodation options. Whether with a host family, in a volunteer house or sometimes in a hotel - the accommodation varies from project to project. You can find further information in the respective project description.

You should be aware that you will live a little more simply and not have the usual standard, such as in a hotel. But that is exactly what is part of this special experience and will certainly give you a completely different view of your life in your home country and help you to appreciate a lot more.

WiFi is available free of charge in many places. You can usually share your holiday impressions with your loved ones at home in a timely manner.

What language skills do I need to have?

Depending on where you want to travel to, there are different language challenges. English is important to be able to communicate with the local people. In some regions it is also worth having a basic knowledge of the local language. We therefore offer various language courses to prepare you optimally.

What do I have to pay particular attention to on site? Are there any safety concerns?

Of course, every place has its own special traditions and cultural peculiarities. This makes your stay abroad even more exciting and educational. You immerse yourself in daily life on site and are no longer a tourist, but live with and like the locals.

So that you are well prepared for this, we will be happy to inform you in advance about the correct behavior on site and which things you have to pay particular attention to. Optionally, you can also use one of our RGV preparatory seminars visit.

Our projects and accommodations are verified and we have been working with most host families for many years. In this way we create the basis for your successful stay abroad. You will be well looked after and have a contact person on site if you have any questions. In emergencies we are available for you 24/7.
