“How do I find a suitable internship for me?”

  • Make a note of your favorite internship positions and find out more about the process, the accommodation and the area.
  • If you can't decide on an internship, simply combine two internships!

“What language skills do I need for my internship abroad?”

Good knowledge of English is usually sufficient for your internship abroad. In some internships, however, basic knowledge of the national language, Spanish, is helpful or even necessary. Keep in mind that you will work in close contact with your colleagues at the assignment site and often have to deal with customers or students who may not speak English very well - certain basic knowledge is definitely helpful.

Normally you will either stay in one of our volunteer apartments, volunteer houses or with a host family and usually share your room with one or more other volunteers/interns. “How do I prepare properly and what safety and health precautions do I need to take?”

In general, security, especially in Latin American countries, is a topic that comes up again and again before doing an internship abroad. In most cases, however, there are just a few things to consider so that you can enjoy your stay carefree:

  • Take care of travel health insurance in advance and find out what services it covers.
  • Check that your vaccinations are up to date.
  • Make sure your first-aid kit is well stocked.
  • Pay attention to sufficient hygiene in general (wash your hands before eating) and for some countries the following applies: no uncooked food, no street food and no tap water!
  • Valuables should be left at home or carried in a fanny pack.
  • In some places you shouldn't leave the house alone at night.

In this facility near Lima, mainly children and adults with mental or physical difficulties receive horse-assisted therapy.
