Volunteering in Ghana

The whole country is characterized by colorful festivals, bustling markets, rhythmic music and hospitable people. Ghana is considered one of the safest countries in Africa and has an up-and-coming economy with good infrastructure.

Experience the Ghanaian serenity and let yourself be inspired by our first RGV destination country! Because we have been involved here since 1999. Long-term cooperation with local projects shows the success of our project work. A great example of this is the successful completion of our self-financed street children project.

In Ghana, we primarily support projects in the social, medical and ecological fields.

With your volunteer work in Ghana you support local organizations

Get involved with the local population! With volunteer work in Ghana, for example, you look after children from the poorest backgrounds in the street children project or bring in the elementary education the writing and reading.

Social volunteering can take place in childcare facilities such as day-care centers, kindergartens and in facilities for children with disabilities be completed. In the school sector, our volunteer helpers support teaching in preschool and elementary schools. Anyone who already has basic pedagogical and didactic knowledge can also teach at secondary schools. This offer is increasingly being used by student teachers, for example to complete an internship at the school.

In the medical field, our volunteers support projects in clinics, in private hospitals or in general healthcare. The medical volunteering is only possible with appropriate training. The medical nursing internship in private clinics or hospitals, on the other hand, can also be completed with the Abitur or university entrance qualification.

Also in animal and Environmental Protection you can actively get involved and get involved in various projects.

With our NGO "Rainbow over Ghana eV" we are also active with our own organization on site. We are constantly expanding our network and are proud of our good cooperation with local social institutions. In the past, we were able to strengthen various regional school projects in Ghana and get involved in the education of Ghanaian children.

We are also proud of our own project - the street children project. In this program in Accra, you support and look after children from poor backgrounds and are thus committed to improving the educational opportunities for the children affected.

Experience Ghana as a volunteer

In addition to the extremely happy mentality of the people in Ghana, nature is simply beautiful and worth experiencing. In the south of the country you will find natural palm beaches, such as Butre Beach or Busua, which invite you to swim. Adjacent mangrove landscapes and their wildlife along the Butre River can be explored with small canoes. Tropical rainforests (Bobiri Forest) and impressive waterfalls (Wli Waterfalls) inland form the basis for exciting excursions and hikes. In the north of the country is the large Mole National Park, in which African big game animals can be observed.

In addition to the scenic highlights, there are also many cultural sights, such as the old slave fortress in Cape Coast, which is a World Heritage Site. Ghana, or the former Gold Coast, was the main hub of the African slave trade, which has left deep scars to this day.
