Information about the internship in Nepal

Nepal is one of the poorest countries in Asia. From 1996 to 2006, the Maoists fought against the monarchy and the Hindu state religion, so economic development was slow. The caste system also shapes social life in the country and inhibits economic progress. The Nepalese rural population mainly earns their living with farm work; Illiteracy is widespread. The infrastructure also needs to be expanded: only the main roads are paved and the roads from Kathmandu to the south of the country are still very impassable.

In many rural regions of Nepal, the people's way of life is traditional and extremely religious. During your stay abroad, we ask you to respect the culture, customs and customs of the local population. For example, women should always keep their knees and shoulders covered, and shoes should always be removed at the threshold of a house.

Your internship in Nepal

You will either be accommodated with a Nepalese host family, where you will have the opportunity to get to know the country and everyday life first hand, or in a small apartment/hotel room, where you will be more to yourself. In the main travel season or tourist travel season (October to November and February to April) only our host families are usually available during your stay internship abroad available. Compared to German standards, the accommodation is quite simple, but you quickly learn to do without insignificant luxuries. You will not lack the basic things during your stay abroad.

High recreational value and spiritual encounters in Nepal

The landscape of Nepal offers a unique time abroad with beautiful scenery: the Himalayas with Mount Everest, the jungle with its fabulous flora and fauna, the lush green forest and grassy landscapes and the mysterious cloud forests will immediately cast a spell over you.

Anyone who is open to spiritual experiences will also get their money's worth in Nepal. During our orientation program you will get a first impression of the local way of life. The legendary valley of Kathmandu or the stupa in Bodnath are fascinating destinations. With the right scenery and the Himalayas on the horizon, a yoga course can become a highlight. Spirituality is omnipresent! The most important places of pilgrimage include the so-called power places of Vajrayana Buddhism, whose meditation caves are used for Buddhist rituals.
