Volunteering in Hungary

Wildlife & Animal Welfare

In Hungary you can get involved as a volunteer in animal welfare. If you have a degree in biology or environmental protection, or if you have professional contact with these topics, this will make your volunteer work easier, but of course it is not a must. Most important are your love for animals, motivation and willingness to learn. The project is about creating a home for the animals, an oasis of well-being, treating them well and caring for them in a healthy way.

Good food and party

In the evening, after work is done, you can enjoy delicious Hungarian specialties such as kettle goulash and pancakes for dessert with your colleagues and the other volunteers in the restaurants. If you want to enjoy the nightlife, you should head to Siofok, Hungary's quintessential party town! Thousands of people gather here in the late evening hours to dance, celebrate and have a good time.

Weekend at Lake Balaton

A trip to Lake Balaton is definitely worth it. There are large beaches where you can swim and bathe, as the lake is shallow in many places. If you prefer a quieter environment, the spa town of Balatonfüred is the place for you. Here you can relax in thermal baths and drink medicinal waters in the city center. Both Balatonfüred and Siofok are in the immediate vicinity of Lake Balaton, which makes a weekend trip here great.

The capital Budapest

Of course, a visit to the capital Budapest is highly recommended, as one of the largest and most beautiful market halls in Europe is located here - ideal for buying souvenirs for family and friends. You can also visit the famous Budapest Zoo.

The Puszta - Europe's largest grass landscape

In the vast steppe landscape Puszta you can admire impressive horseman shows and spend your free time more actively because there are many options for hiking, horseback riding and biking. You can also take advantage of water sports on Lake Tisza or visit the national park here. You can enjoy the historical local culture by watching the Hungarian folk dance, the csardas, or by listening to traditional music.
