Volunteering in Uganda
If you want to make a difference with your volunteer work in Uganda and show social commitment, you will first and foremost ask yourself in which areas your work makes sense and which activities help the local people best. To do this, the situation on site must first be correctly assessed. Uganda is one of the poorer countries, there is only little economic power, an expandable infrastructure and most of the working people can be found in agriculture and in rural regions. The illiteracy rate in Uganda is still very high, especially in rural areas. Children often help their parents with the farm work and school attendance is sometimes neglected.

Volunteering in Uganda
Your destination country Uganda
In Uganda, teachers and supervisors in rural areas are paid poorly and sometimes not at all. Lack of staff in social institutions such as Nurseries, kindergartens and schools are the result and the children are the ones who suffer. Especially in this area your help as a volunteer is essential.
This is exactly where we would like to start and, with the help of our volunteers in social institutions, compensate for the lack of staff. Since Uganda is still one of those African countries where voluntary services and volunteering are less common than in South Africa, for example, we are doing pioneering work and are particularly pleased that you are interested in getting involved!
Detailed project descriptions can be found in the project overview.
Volunteering in Uganda - "The pearl of Africa"
Uganda, the "green pearl of Africa", impresses with the grandiose variety of natural beauty, the extremely pleasant climate and the cheerful people. In addition to numerous waterfalls, the huge Lake Victoria and the White Nile, at the source of which exciting animal observations can be made, the Ruwenzori mountains in the west on the border with the Congo invite you to hike.
In addition to a safari tour in Murchison Falls or Queen Elizabeth National Park, where you can see the impressive Big 5 of African wild animals, there is also the opportunity to observe chimpanzees up close on a hike. An absolute highlight in Uganda is the observation of the endangered and rare mountain gorillas on the border with Rwanda in the Bwindi National Park. While the landscape in the south and west is mainly characterized by rainforest, mountain and volcanic lakes and mountains, we definitely recommend a detour to the north and east - here you can see red earth and traditional mud huts.
