Experience report from the diving project in the Dominican Republic

All in all, my time in Las Terrenas was amazing. I worked in the marine conservation program for about two months. Thanks to the on-site team, I felt welcome and safe throughout my stay.

Luisa's time in the Dominican Republic

All in all, my time in Las Terrenas was incredibly nice. I worked in the marine conservation program for about two months. The on-site team made me feel welcome and safe throughout my stay. The volunteer officer on site always had an open ear for our wishes, complaints and expectations in order to reconcile them with the work. But all the other volunteers also made my stay very special. I met amazing, warm and funny people who made my working days and my whole stay even more enjoyable.

Between my work shifts I got the chance to see almost the whole island which was super cool, but I've always loved coming back to Las Terrenas, my home here in the Dominican Republic. For me it is a very special place because on the one hand you have the feeling of a small Dominican village, but on the other hand you also have chic and nice places to eat, some shops to spend time in and many bars to have a fun time can spend the night, can find. But for me the many long beaches were the best thing about Las Terrenas or Samana in general. Along the coast you will find beaches that I only imagined in my head before.

The best thing about my marine conservation project? I could work in this environment. I have worked by the sea and IN the sea.

Thank you for hosting me and giving me such a unique time in the Dominican Republic!
