As a rule, the volunteers share shared rooms with a maximum of four beds. A single room can also be booked for an additional charge. Free WiFi and use of the washing machine are included. The rooms are fully furnished.

The advantage of sharing accommodation is that you will definitely make friends for life here. The cultural exchange with volunteers from all over the world is enriching and a valuable experience! Mutual respect and consideration is a given and household tasks are shared.

Located in the center of the coastal towns of Las Terrenas and Samaná, the accommodations are scenic, relaxed and peaceful locations. The deployment sites are only a 10 to 20 minute walk away. The city center and the beautiful seafront promenade are also close by, where there are many restaurants, bars and shops. The area is safe, there is a "tourist police" on the streets.

Our projects are located in the towns of Samaná and Las Terrenas, in the heart of the Samaná province in the northeast of the Dominican Republic. Both small towns are very relaxed, peaceful and safe. The weather on the peninsula remains largely the same warm throughout the year: the average temperature is around 25°C.

Samaná is located on the peninsula of the same name. The small coastal town impresses with its harbor and a beautiful beach as well as many small islands nearby, some of which can be reached by bridges. Here on the peninsula you have a wonderful view of Samaná Bay, where thousands of humpback whales cavort during their mating season in the winter months. In addition to the wonderful nature that surrounds Samaná, the town itself also has a lot to offer. On the promenade, for example, you will find many restaurants, cafés and bars. 

Las Terrenas is a coastal village on the Samaná Peninsula. The region is important for various ecosystems: mangroves, seagrass beds and coral reefs. The popular holiday destination is known for the Playa Las Terrenas beach. There is also the Pueblo de los Pescadores promenade, which runs directly along the sea and is lined with many bars and restaurants. In addition to the Caribbean beaches decorated with palm trees, you will find the highest mountain in the Caribbean, the Pico Duarte, and the historic colonial city of Santo Domingo on the peninsula.

Do you fancy Caribbean flair with palm beaches, sun and cocktails? Then off to tropical paradise! Both Samaná and Las Terrenas are the perfect places for this. They are also a good way to improve your Spanish.

Fantastic sandy beaches, crystal clear water, palm trees and happy people - all this is associated with the Caribbean. Samaná is one of those places in the Dominican Republic that fits that notion. The peninsula is surrounded by extensive palm-fringed beaches and turquoise-blue waves. Let your soul dangle on the beach or discover the colorful underwater world with a snorkel and diving goggles.

The provincial capital of the same name exudes a very relaxed atmosphere with its quiet harbor and friendly inhabitants: Stroll through the streets lined with colorful houses, where the rhythms of merengue, bachata and salsa music often reach your ears. The two-kilometre-long beach promenade, along which there are numerous restaurants and bars, also invites you to stroll. Here you can end your day in the project with the other volunteers and enjoy the Dominican cuisine. Let the Caribbean lifestyle affect you and get infected by the relaxed vibes. Of course, with day and weekend trips, you have time to explore other beaches in the area, such as Playa Rincon, a spacious beach near a fishing village. 

If you need a change from the relaxed beach life, the area offers you many other exciting leisure activities. For example, Samaná is known for the exciting whale watching tours where you can watch the giants leap over the waves? . You can also visit the nearby Los Haitises National Park, which is the largest national park in the Dominican Republic with an area of ​​1600 km². Here you can roam through extensive mangrove forests and discover numerous karst islands that rise out of the water and caves where you can see paintings by the Taínos, the island's indigenous people. The location therefore also has a lot to offer for history buffs!

In addition to Samaná, the coastal town of Las Terrenas is also relevant to your project. This town is also incredibly paradisiacal with its palm-fringed beaches and is considered a real insider tip - here you can get to know the unadulterated Dominican way of life far away from mass tourism. But sports enthusiasts will definitely get their money's worth - for example, the colorful coral reefs invite you to go snorkeling and diving. You can also paddle your surfboard in the waves or try kitesurfing. 

In Las Terrenas, don't miss the popular El Limón waterfall, located about 20 kilometers east of town, nestled in the jungle near the mountain village of the same name, Limón. Make your way to this adventurous site on foot or horseback - the waterfall is not accessible by car. 

If you have a little more time, you have the opportunity to explore places further afield. Discover the capital of the Dominican Republic, Santo Domingo, where you can stroll through the beautiful historic old town. Would you like to get away from the coast and into the mountains? Then the Pico Duarte in the Cordillera Central mountain range awaits you, which at over 3000 meters is the highest mountain in the Dominican Republic. Hike through tropical landscapes, pine and deciduous forests, past crystal clear mountain streams and finally reach a rocky mountain landscape. For nature lovers and adventurers, this is an experience like no other!
