Hakuna Matata! Our RGV destination country Tanzania - the land of the Maasai - has a lot to offer! Discover the idyllic natural surroundings Beaches on the coast of the Indian Ocean, get up Safari in the world famous Serengeti or explore the exciting mountains in the center of the country!

Our volunteer projects are next to the bustling port city of Dar es Salaam on four more attractive locations distributed. And each of them has its own charm - regardless of whether Arusha with Simanjiro, Iringa, Mtwara or Zanzibar!

Arusha Discovery Tour

Arusha - Go on safari from here!

Arusha is located in North of Tanzania, near the fabled Kilimanjaro. Take the chance to take a trip to the landmark of Africa! With a little luck you can marvel at the snow-covered summit of the mountain. Or you dare to climb and take one unforgettable trekking tour part.

Arusha is generally the ideal starting point for safari trips. Because you are already very close to the famous one Serengeti National Park. Follow in the footsteps of "The Lion King" and observe the wild animals in their natural environment. Or marvel at the gorgeous blue-green sight of the Ngorongoro Crater! Because in the world-famous top attraction in Africa - UNESCO World Heritage Site - you will experience an incomparable concentration of wild animals!

Follow the traces of the colonial era in Arusha and visit one of the impressive local museums! Would you like to take a traditional souvenir home with you as a memento? on the numerous colorful markets in Arusha you will definitely find something!

As a volunteer you live in Arusha with up to five other volunteers at our cordial host mother Caroline. On Sundays you can accompany them to one of the atmospheric gospel choir performances!

Iringa

Iringa - Discover the inland!

Iringa is located in Inland on a large plateau, From up here you have a breathtaking view over numerous tobacco and corn fields! The hilly and lush green landscape ideal for hiking or simply to relax.

Take a safari in the nearby Ruaha National Park, the home of Tanzania's largest elephant population! Buffalo, gazelle, wild dog, cheetah, antelope and numerous other wild animals also live in the park. Our on-site RGV supervisor accompanies you and other volunteers during your wildlife experience. Or you go back to the Stone Age! In the archaeological site at Isimila you can admire the naturally formed gorges and unique sandstone towers in addition to the finds that are up to 100.000 years old!

Stroll through the work after the work is done Old market hall from the colonial era and admire the woven Iringa baskets on display. Fresh fruit and vegetables are stacked on top of each other and invite you to try them. Marvel at the hustle and bustle and let yourself be carried away by the local lifestyle.

In Iringa you live with up to five other volunteers in our Volunteer House. In your free time you can relax here on the covered veranda and let the mountain wind blow your nose. RGV Supervisor Shedrack organizes regular BBQ and game nights in the garden for the volunteers!

Mtwara

Mtwara - Enjoy the beautiful sandy beaches!

Mtwara is located in Southeast of Tanzania, near the border with Mozambique and right on the coast of the Indian Ocean. Mtwara used to be a small fishing village. Even today there is fresh fish every day at the harbor, which you can eat crispy fried while taking a walk!

The residents in Mtwara are friendly and open-minded. You will certainly find your way around quickly and enjoy the Tanzanian serenity. Stroll through the bustling market selling a variety of traditional medicines. Or stroll through Aga Khan Street with the old Indian trading houses from the 50 and 60 years. The lively districts of Majengo and Chikongola are also worth a visit.

In your free time, join a boat trip organized by RGV team leader Lukas and catch on Insights into the everyday life of the water-living population, Or join in Motorbike group excursion! Motorbike taxi is a common mode of transportation in Mtwara. You'll quickly get used to just swinging on the back and getting to your destination easy-peasy.

You live in Mtwara in our unique RGV Volunteer House, in the middle of a palm forest and only 20 minutes from the natural beach! After the volunteer work is done, you can relax here with other volunteers on the veranda.

White sandy beaches in Zanzibar

Zanzibar - Up to Spice Island with white sand beaches!

Would you rather sniff the sweet scent of vanilla and stroll along sandy beaches? Then you are exactly right for your volunteer work or your RGV internship abroad in Zanzibar! On the island archipelago await you turquoise blue sea, white sandy beaches and many exciting sights.

For example, explore the historical Stowntown. Colorful merchant houses, small alleys, mango trees and small shops where you can buy traditional African fabrics characterize the city. The old town has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000.

Off Zanzibar Capital Zanzibar Town there is a pleasant scent in the air. Spice plantations stretch out here, on which cinnamon and turmeric, among other things, are grown. No wonder Zanzibar is also called the island of spices.
