Day 7 -

Arusha - Handeni: On the way to the Maasai

We take the coach to Handeni, about 8 hours away. We buy Maasai clothing at a market and off we go on our next adventure! We live directly with the Maasai, cook with them, hike through nature, look after the goats with them and learn many exciting details about their lives. (F, M, A)

Day 8 -

Handeni: With the cattle to the pasture

Today we are cattle herders! We get up at sunrise and accompany the Maasai and their animals to a water hole. The herd includes cows, goats, sheep and other animals. The cattle are always on the lookout for grasses and edible shrubs and set the tone on the tour. If the animals drink or stand longer to eat, you also have a breather. In the afternoon you will be back in the Maasai village. (F, M, A)

Day 9 -

Handeni: Celebrations with the Maasai

After breakfast, the preparations for the evening party begin. You are there when a goat is slaughtered and the meat is smoked over an open fire. The Masai are happy if you ask them questions about their rituals. (F, M, A)
