Cheetah in Namibia
Day 1 -

Windhoek - Okonjima: Embark on an adventure!

Let's go on your safari adventure! You will be picked up from your accommodation in Windhoek, the capital of Namibia, between 8:30 and 9:00 am. From there we set course towards Okonjima. On the way there you will experience your first highlight: Namibia's largest woodcarver market. The perfect opportunity to take home a nice souvenir as a keepsake.

In the afternoon we reach Okonjima and set up our camp there. Are you ready for another highlight? Now it's off to the Africat Foundation, which is dedicated to protecting African big cats, especially cheetahs. On a guided tour you will see cheetahs that are to be released back into the wild as part of the Africat rehabilitation program. They were previously rescued from difficult circumstances. After the tour we return to the tent camp, look forward to our dinner and a cozy campfire under the African starry sky. (a)

Hereros in Namibia
Day 2 -

Okonjima - Okaukuejo, Etosha National Park: Meet the Ovaherero

After having breakfast, we continue north to Ombu Village. In the village you will meet the Ovaherero and get to know their way of life. Immerse yourself in the customs and customs of the villagers, learn about their belief system, ceremonies and how they celebrate weddings. Let them show you how they build houses, gather and prepare food and how they dress. Don't be shy! Touch, feel, taste and ask questions of the villagers. After our exciting encounter we continue to Okaukuejo in the Etosha National Park. Arrived in the park we do our first game drive and observe wild animals. (B, M, A)

Black rhino in Etosha National Park
Day 3 -

Okaukuejo, Etosha National Park: Elephants, lions and rhinos

It's safari time! Today a full-day safari in the Etosha National Park is on the program, an absolute highlight. We leave the camp very early and enjoy the fresh morning air on our game drive. On our drive towards Halali Camp we visit several waterholes and have a great view of the huge Etosha Pan, a salt-clay plain. When it rains heavily in this arid region, the water collects in the depression, attracting thousands of flamingos, other waterfowl and even frogs. You are sure to see a lot of wild animals on our safari. Sometimes very rare animal species can also be seen.

We stop at Halali for a relaxed lunch. Stroll to the Halali waterhole, jump in the swimming pool or cool off at the bar with a refreshing drink before heading to Okaukuejo. Okaukuejo is famous for its waterhole where a lot of wildlife can be seen. It has the reputation of being one of the best game drive spots in Southern Africa. With a bit of luck you will see black rhinos, elephants, lions and numerous antelope species directly in front of our campsite. (B, M, A)

Damaraland desert region in Namibia
Day 4 -

Okaukuejo, Etosha National Park - Twyfelfontein: Namib Desert and rock paintings

We leave Etosha and travel south to one of the most beautiful desert regions in Namibia: Damaraland. The region takes its name from the Damara tribe who live here. On our tour we pass a small village called Kamanjab and continue west until we reach another sensation on our adventurous journey: Twyfelfontein. Stay tuned! On day five we will explore the valley extensively and you will see why it is so special.

Arrived at our sleeping place today, you can look forward to camping under the stars, in the middle of the Namibian wilderness! (B, M, A)

Rock paintings from Twyfelfontein in Namibia
Day 5 -

Twyfelfontein, Damaraland: Discover the UNESCO World Heritage Site

Today we dedicate ourselves entirely to the fascinating and mystical rock carvings of Twyfelfontein. With over 2500 paintings, engravings and petroglyphs dating from the Mesolithic to the Neolithic, Twyfelfontein is considered the most important and oldest site in Namibia. It is of such great importance that it was even declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2007.

During our visit to Twyfelfontein we are shown the most important and interesting images. The rock paintings are depictions of the hunter-gatherer lifestyle of the time. They show, among other things, animals and their tracks, people and ritual practices. (B, M, A)

Seal at Cape Cross in Namibia
Day 6 -

Twyfelfontein - Swakopmund: Henties Bay, seal colony

It's going to the sea! Right after breakfast we set off and head west over bumpy gravel roads to the Skeleton Coast on the Atlantic Ocean. At Henties Bay we see the sea for the first time on this trip. There you can enjoy the view of the open ocean before we head north along the coast in search of our next highlight: a gigantic colony of seals at Cape Cross. At peak times, between 80000 and 100000 of the furry animals frolic here on the coast. They lie on the beach, glide over waves or engage in brutal battles with rivals.

Then we set off again and soon reach Swakopmund, an important Namibian coastal town. In order to be as flexible as possible, only breakfast is offered in Swakopmund - a good opportunity for you to try out the great cafés and restaurants in the city! And above all, you should also try the delicious seafood that Swakopmund is known for. (F)

Parachuting in Namibia
Day 7 -

Leisure fun and action in Swakopmund

Today we stay in Swakopmund. Use the day to look around the city or try out cool activities* that you've always wanted to do! Swakopmund is a pleasant seaside town with plenty of shops, a lovely beach (although the Atlantic is quite chilly at this latitude) and an open-air curio market. You can also go to the Swakopmund Museum*: Namibia's largest private museum gives you a lively insight into the history of the country - from minerals to original ox wagons, a complete dental practice from earlier times to exhibits from flora and fauna. There is something interesting for every visitor. Or how about the Namibian National Marine Aquarium*, where you can walk under a shark tank?

If you're more in the mood for action and adventure, you're spoiled for choice in Swakopmund: you can fly over the desert* in an ultralight aircraft*, go skydiving*, jet over the sand dunes* on a quad or go sandboarding* and surfing*. If you need some rest afterwards, go fishing* or bird watching*! Discuss which activities can be booked with your guide before you arrive in Swakopmund. These additional services as well as lunch and dinner today are not included in the services. (F)

Sunset over sand dunes
Day 8 -

Swakopmund - Sesriem: Sunset over red sand dunes

It goes back into the seemingly endless expanses of the Namib Desert. Our tour takes us over a gravel road into the mountain desert that appears out of nowhere. We descend to the riverbed at the foot of the gorges and continue up the long, steep road to the summit, where spectacular mountain views await. On our way down to the dune fields we see the landscape changing again. We pass grass savannas and fields and reach the vast Namib Desert with its spectacular red sand dunes. From there it is only a stone's throw to our next stop, the small town of Solitaire. After a short stop, we continue our journey and arrive at our campsite in Sesriem in the late afternoon. There we will set up camp for the night and then head out to watch the beautiful sunset on Elim Dune. (B, M, A)

Sossusvlei in Namibia
Day 9 -

Sesriem - Sossusvlei: Dune hike through the Namib Desert

Today we start particularly early so that we can experience the sunrise over the desert on a cool morning. We drive through the village of Sesriem and then right into the grandiose dune landscape. We cover the last five kilometers to Sossusvlei on foot. Sossusvlei is a beige salt-clay pan surrounded by sand dunes that rarely contain water. In the morning hours, the gently shimmering sunlight covers the dunes. If you're lucky, you might spot an ostrich or gemsbok on your walk. But the stunted camel thorn trees, which stand out in contrast to the bright, cracked clay soil of the depression, the orange-red dunes and the deep blue of the sky, also form a unique photo motif.

We spend the morning in Sossusvlei and visit "Big Daddy", with up to 380 meters one of the largest dunes in the world, and Dune 45. We return to Sesriem for lunch. In the late afternoon, when it's a bit cooler, we take a short trip to the Sesriem Canyon. (B, M, A)

Stop in Solitaire in Namibia
Day 10 -

Sesriem - Windhoek: End of a wonderful journey

Even the best adventures come to an end!
On our way back to Windhoek - after a last breakfast together - we drive through a beautiful mountain landscape. In Solitaire, we stop briefly to stretch our legs. Then we continue our return journey via the Khomas Highlands. In the late afternoon to early evening you will be back at your accommodation in Windhoek. (F)
