Preschool in Tanzania field report

The people of Tanzania are very warm and friendly. No matter where you go you will be greeted and you will always have someone to talk to. People are very interested and happy to help if they have any questions. All in all it was a great adventure and by the end of my stay I didn't want to leave! I will miss living there and hopefully will come back someday!

Catherine's time in Tanzania

My volunteer work in Tanzania - a great experience!

I was in Tanzania for five weeks for my volunteer work, more precisely in the city of Dar es Salaam. It was a great experience and very interesting to learn about African culture.

Nice experiences with other volunteers

I lived in the student house in Dar es Salaam with nine other volunteers. We all did a lot together and often went to parties or to the cinema together.

Personal highlights: The exciting excursions!

One of my highlights were my trips! I was in Zanzibar for 4 days and swam with dolphins, among other things. I was also in northern Tanzania for a week and went on safari there. The landscapes were amazing and we got very close to the animals.

Cheerful preschool kids

Another highlight were the children in my school! I worked in the pre-school in Dar es Salaam. There were children between the ages of two and six years old. They were so full of life and hearty and always so happy to see me! I already miss her. I still keep in touch with my teachers.

The warmth of the Tanzanian population

The people of Tanzania are very warm and friendly. No matter where you go you will be greeted and you will always have someone to talk to. People are very interested and happy to help if they have any questions.

Student House - Living in Simplicity

Life in the student house was very different from my usual life in Germany. We didn't have running water, so we had to shower in buckets. We flushed the toilets manually using buckets. However, our housekeeper always cooked delicious food and we were always able to buy drinks from her.

Conclusion: "I will be back!"

All in all it was a great adventure and by the end of my stay I didn't want to leave! I will miss living there and hopefully will come back someday!
