Volunteering with RGV: How Namibia captured my heart

For me personally, it was the best time of my life so far. I would like to thank the entire RGV team (also on site in Namibia) for your great support, your understanding, your help, your existence, your friendliness, your punctuality.

Babsi's time in Namibia

Before the trip: My decision for RGV

I chose RGV because it was my first voluntary service. I came across you through the internet.

Thanks to RGV, I received all the necessary information about the project in advance, all documents, documents, accommodation, work visa. RGV helped me a lot with all of my questions and preparations.

After my arrival in Namibia, Steffi picked me up at the airport. We bought a SIM card right at the airport. When I arrived at the accommodation, I wasn't impressed at first. I had ordered private accommodation with peace and space for myself, where I could switch off. The room I got was the exact opposite. I decided to move to a larger room and that wasn't a problem. The employees were very nice and helpful.

The next day was my orientation day. The whole process and everything worth knowing was discussed there. We also visited my future workplace.

Everyday life and life at the soup kitchen in Namibia

My work area was the kindergarten from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Afterwards, food distribution for 900 children. Work ended at 14:30 p.m.

Later I decided to work in the kitchen. My working day there started at 7:00 or 8:00 a.m.

All colleagues and of course the children were so friendly, nice and helpful. We were like a big family. I have never experienced such warmth.

The cuisine in Namibia is very meat-heavy. There is a good selection of side dishes and fish in the restaurant. I mostly cooked myself - vegetarian!

Farewell to Namibia: An experience of a lifetime and deep gratitude

For me personally, it was the best time of my life so far and I am very grateful for every moment that wasn't just beautiful. Here in Namibia you are happy with what you have. It's the inner values that count!

The cohesion, the commonality, the willingness to help, the friendships, the respect.

It doesn't matter what perfume you have, what nail polish, what clothes, what car.

I would like to thank the entire RGV team (also on site in Namibia) for your great support, your understanding, your help, your existence, your friendliness, your punctuality. I will definitely recommend you!

You can be proud of yourself ❤️
