I embarked on the adventure of Greece

As far as volunteer work is concerned, here you will learn how to work properly in conservation. You get to know the field work and what is important. I set up photo traps and evaluated photos, snorkeled a lot to document the decline in seaweed and took part in a seal count from the boat.

Daniel's time in Greece

Learn the basics of the Greek language :-)

All in all, I had a lot of amenities for such a small island. A supermarket, restaurants, a cocktail bar and a doctor, ... and the people on the island are just super relaxed. I recommend learning the basics of the Greek language, it always brings a smile from the locals when you can speak a few words.

The team on site

Teddi is the head of the research station and the person who will guide you on the work that needs to be done. He is quite flexible about the tasks and always made sure that I got along with my tasks. I also met Georgia, another member who takes care of the logistical aspects of the station. She is very helpful and caring and I hope you get to know her too. She really is a sweetheart!

Discovery tours & snorkeling

What was particularly special about the island for me is the relationship between nature and the population. In most parts of the island you can stay for a week without seeing anyone and that was a unique experience for me that I have never had before. If you want, Robinson is on a lonely island :-) This enables great discovery tours on land, but also an incredible opportunity to snorkel, which was one of my tasks because I mapped the seaweed. The underwater life is just great compared to other places in the Mediterranean! The afternoons spent alone on the beach will probably stay in my memory for a long time.

Mediterranean flair

Life here has its own pace and everything is a little slower, which I had to get used to at first. I found it quite relaxing to take things calmly for a month and I have to say that life is just a lot healthier there than at home.

friends for life

At first I was scared of spending a month alone on an island and living with people I didn't know, but in the end I made good friends and left a piece of myself on the island.
