My volunteer work at the After School Club in South Africa

My volunteer work in South Africa was a meaningful and educational experience that will stay with me throughout my life and has certainly changed my perspective on the world and the importance of education. Working with the children is very enriching.

Aylin's time in South Africa

The time in the project

While volunteering in South Africa, I had the opportunity to work in an after-school club with children in the townships. This experience enriched my life in many ways and broadened my horizons. The townships, which are characterized by challenges such as poverty and social disadvantage, are home to these remarkable children. During my volunteer work, I had the opportunity to help these children with their homework. I spent time every day supporting their learning and helping them overcome their learning difficulties. Working with these children is very enriching. Not only did we help the children with their schoolwork, but we also taught them life skills and encouraged critical thinking. Our topics cover basic topics such as reading and writing, but also topics such as human rights and the economic realities in other countries. It's amazing to see how these children develop and how proud they are of their progress.

Leisure time in South Africa

In addition to my work in the After School Club, I had the opportunity to explore the fascinating city of Cape Town and discover its cultural diversity. The beautiful landscapes and picturesque beaches are breathtaking. But what makes this experience truly worthwhile is meeting the locals and their way of life. Their warmth and hospitality showed me how closely the city community works together.

My conclusion

My volunteer work in South Africa was a meaningful and educational experience. This made me realize not only the educational inequality and social challenges in the country, but also the determination and positivity of the children. This experience will stay with me throughout my life and has certainly changed my perspective on the world and the meaning of education. She showed me how education can create hope and opportunity in difficult life situations.

Thanks for this great experience!
