Volunteering at the husky farm

My time in the sled dog project in Swedish Lapland was unforgettable! Since I only had two weeks to volunteer during my studies, the choice of projects was limited. I was particularly interested in two projects - including Johanna and Konstantin's husky farm. In hindsight, I'm very glad I decided to do this project!

Anne's time at the husky farm

Two weeks in Winter Wonderland!

The adventure started when Johanna picked me up at the airport in Arvidsjaur. We arrived at the husky farm in time for lunch. I was greeted warmly by everyone. The open and informal atmosphere made you feel right at home and the excitement quickly dissipated.

As a volunteer you take on various tasks on the farm. Most of the time is spent with the dogs. In addition to the feedings and many walks through the beautiful snowy landscape, there are many cuddles on the plan. I didn't expect sled dogs to be so cuddly!

I especially liked the family life on the husky farm. In addition to meals together, we spent many hours playing community games.
Johanna and Konstantin always had an open ear and tried to implement all wishes. For example, we drove to the municipality of Arjeplog one morning, ate sandwiches and bread on a stick over the fire and made many barbecues.

I would definitely recommend the project without a doubt!
