DAY 1 -

Dar es Salaam - Morogoro

Our tour starts in the morning at about 11 clock in Dar es Salaam (sometimes in Iringa). If you come from Zanzibar, you can arrive in the morning so comfortably by plane or ferry. Participants from Mtwara and Arusha should travel to Dar es Salaam no later than one day before the tour starts. There you can stay overnight in our Transfer House. The RGV team in Dar es Salaam takes care of the transfers: that means, no matter where you arrive, you will be picked up from the bus station, airport or ferry terminal and taken to the starting point of the tour.

Together we drive on the bus to Morogoro. Our tour guide is already waiting for us and brings us to the lodge. In the evening we explore the city together: on a city tour you will learn more about the history of Morogoro. The lodge serves dinner with a drink. (A)

Giraffes in Mikumi National Park
DAY 2 -

Mikumi National Park: Lions & Hippos

Early in the morning we set off to Mikumi National Park because the animals are the most active in the morning. With a bit of luck we can watch lions hunting and hippos at the Hippo Pool. A super photo also give off giraffes, which pluck the leaves of the acacia trees with their long tongues. But we will also meet elephants, water buffalo and monkeys, sometimes even a leopard.

In the evening we return to Morogoro and visit a local restaurant where we have dinner together. If you want, you can go out in Morogoro with your new friends. But do not go to bed too late, because the next morning a new adventure is waiting for you! (F, A)

DAY 3 -

Uluguru Mountains: Mountain Hike & Waterfalls

After breakfast, our tour guide picks us up from the hotel and drives us to the beautiful Uluguru Mountains. Our hike starts in the middle of the mountains. The ascent is a bit tedious, but fortunately there are great ways to cool off on the way: we pass three waterfalls where you can even swim a bit. Then it goes on again - until we have a great mountain panorama and the strains of the climb are immediately forgotten.

The entire hike takes about 8 hours, including 2 hours break. You do not have to be fit for the hike, but have a good basic fitness. For the walk you need sturdy shoes.

In the afternoon we drive back to Dar es Salaam in the Student House. (F)

Please note that the tour takes place parallel to your length of stay in the project.
