Romania - land of cultural diversity

Different ethnic groups

19 different peoples live in Romania with their own traditions, ten different mother tongues and 16 religious communities. The reason for this is a changeable history, which gives the country a colorful diversity.

Opposites meet in Romania

The country offers you a lot from homely idyll to superlatives. Starting with traditional villages and fairytale castles to an architectural masterpiece of a megalomaniac dictator: the second largest and at the time most expensive administrative palace in the world. As you can see, opposites meet in Romania. Within a few hours, as a traveller, you can experience a vibrant and modern city atmosphere, magical natural landscapes and the simplicity of rural life.

Turda Salt Mine

A disused salt mine in Turda in the district of Cluj is particularly fascinating: the salt mine is one of the oldest and most well-known in Transylvania and houses an underground amusement park. Here you can ride a Ferris wheel and paddle on a lake in the lowest-lying spa town in the world. After you have first descended a number of stairs, you continue with an elevator down to a depth of 120 meters. There you will be greeted by a backdrop that looks like it came out of a science fiction film. By the way: A Batman episode was even supposed to be filmed here, which, however, was not possible due to the size of the Batmobile.

The largest bear reserve in Europe

In Zărneşti there is the largest bear reserve in Europe with an area of 69 hectares and nearby you have the opportunity to visit the Piatra Craiului National Park. Romania is also the purest paradise for mountaineers - so it is definitely worth making a place for this wonderful country on your travel wish list. Romania is the perfect place for a journey through time between the centuries. Nowhere else will you find originality and modernity so close together.

In the footsteps of Count Dracula

Another attraction and Romania's main attraction is Bran Castle, which is said to be the former home of Vlad III. Drăculea. The magnificent and impressive castle is an imposing structure that stands on a hill in Transylvania and offers a breathtaking view of the mountains and landscapes. The visit is not really scary, but the museum offers you a lot of art and history.
