Help educate local people in Thailand about animal welfare

What's the matter?

The site is a non-profit NGO that provides general education, animal welfare education and veterinary activities. With the animal protection project, the organization wants to improve the situation of stray animals in Thailand through sterilization, adoption and education.

The number of animals living on the streets in poor conditions is constantly increasing. Most are not in good health and are multiplying at an alarming rate, which in turn poses public health problems.

Since it was founded in 2014, impressive results have already been achieved. More than 4.000 dogs and cats have already been sterilized, over 500 adopted, and feeding and medical care provided for 10.000 stray animals. Likewise, numerous young people on site were informed about animal protection and care.

A lack of awareness of animal welfare issues, such as the importance of sterilization or the care of pets, is blamed as the main problem for the overpopulation of animals. Therefore, the aim of this project is to inform and educate children in this regard, as they represent the future of the country. Attitudes and perceptions in relation to animals are to be changed in the long term in a direction that counteracts overpopulation. This project aims to curb the epidemic of stray animals in Thailand.

Your tasks as a volunteer

Your typical working hours are from Monday to Friday. Most weekends and Thai public holidays are free. So there is enough time to visit cities and beaches as well as to plan and carry out other activities.

Facilities include twelve kennels, a surgery clinic and a dog play area. This is where the veterinary treatments and supplies take place. In addition, the team regularly drives to the surrounding villages to look after other street dogs there and to educate the residents about the proper care of pets. You can support the team in all areas!

There is also a special excursion every Wednesday afternoon: the team drives the volunteers to a Myanmar temple to teach the children there about animal welfare. Since the children had to flee their home country and do not have Thai citizenship, they cannot attend the local school. Therefore, this makeshift school provides education for them. The volunteers can support you in various areas: keeping pets appropriate to the species, the importance of vaccinations and sterilizations for animals, learning English through group work and games, ...

After registering for this project, a police clearance certificate must be presented.
